Pam was born on July 31, 1957 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Pam was raised in Lakewood by her parents Casey and Grace McGimsey. Pam had two much older brothers Dennis and Jerry. As a kid Pam played softball with her dad as the coach of the team. She owned a horse and loved to ride. Pam loved spending time with family in Colorado and at the Kansas farm. Pam graduated from Lakewood High School in 1975. She went to University of Northern Colorado and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology in 1979 and then went on to get a Paralegal Certificate in 1985. She was employed with the US Department of Justice for the past 25 years.
Pam met Dan in 1981 as neighbors. They were married in May of 1982 and quickly moved into their first home. Kristin was born in December 1984. They moved to the Dudley house while Pam was pregnant with Lauren who arrived in July 1989. Pam had an amazing knack for decorating on a budget and made the house feel like home. The family did many home renovations themselves.
Pam was an amazing mother who always made sure the family had fun and always felt loved. Exploring new places and creating found memories were the most important fundamentals to Pam. This even carried through to her career where she was able to travel around the world to teach. She was fortunate enough to find a career that she loved, was passionate about, and made many great friendships.
The family found a second home at Lake McConaughy. We started camping and eventually Pam found the family a house became the center of many great get-togethers. Many summer weekends were filled with sailing, good food on the beach, and sunsets with our lake family.
Pam loved having parties and family gatherings; she could easily host a sit down dinner for more than 30 guests. She loved watching everyone have an enjoyable time playing games, talking, and dancing.
Once the nest was empty Pam and Dan enjoyed increasing their traveling adventures, and even bought an RV. They also learned pottery and acquired even more great friends.
One of Pam’s favorite things was when she became a grandmother to four grandchildren, Wyatt, Marisa, Emmett, and Aubree. She spoiled them and they constantly made her laugh. She loved celebrating their milestones and accomplishments.
Pam’s philosophy in life was to always enjoy the moment and find the good which radiated to everyone that met her. Even with her ALS diagnosis she faced it head on and focused on quality time with family and friends and continued to travel and explore.
