Michael Zimmer, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away in his home after a short illness on June 27 at the age of 67. He grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan and received his bachelor’s degree from Oakland University. After marrying his wife Sheryl in 1980, they moved to Denver, Colorado. He worked in municipal bond sales for 30 years, but music was always his true passion. An avid fan of jazz and blues, Michael played drums in many bands throughout the years. In addition, he loved biking, playing golf and tennis, reading biographies, and playing with his two grandchildren. His lively sense of humor and larger than life personality will be deeply missed. Michael is survived by his wife, Sheryl; father, Leo; mother, Elizabeth; sister, Laurel; two daughters, Jacqueline and Caitlyn; and grandchildren, Jaxon and Natalie.
There will be a memorial service at Chapel Hill Mortuary at 6601 S. Colorado Blvd. Centennial, CO 80121 on July 30 at 2:00 p.m.
There will also be a celebration of life service in Michigan on October 15th hosted by his sister, Laurel, location to be determined.
