Marian Jean Wood (93) of Littleton passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021. Marian was born February 8, 1928 to parents George & Anna Varga of Denver. She had three siblings Dorothy (Jean) Sutton, Genevieve (Al) Peters and George (Cheryl) Varga. In August 1947 she married John Wood and they had four children, John (Cindy) Wood Jr, David (Dee) Wood, Patsy Gilbert and Dan (Chris) Wood. She was also blessed with 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren all of whom she loved dearly. Nothing could make her happier than snuggles and hugs from the children. She is preceded in death by her husband John Wood, sister Dorothy Sutton, brother in law Jean Sutton, brother in law Al Peters, brother George Varga and grandson Jeremy Gilbert.
Marian was a homemaker while raising her four children in the Parker area. She was an amazing cook; she canned the foods grown in her garden and she could bake the best cinnamon rolls. She loved doing needlework, painting and watching Rockies baseball and NASCAR. She rescued frogs, toads or any other lost creature and could rehabilitate an injured chicken better than an ER doctor. She was an EMT with the Parker Volunteer Fire Department along with her husband John and there were many times she rushed off to a fire on a Saturday night with curlers in her hair. She loved studying Native American history and listening to country western music.
Marian loved her family and was happiest when she was around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also a great woman of faith and was very active in her church. She volunteered for anything she could at the church, and she was often attending the nursery or teaching Sunday School classes or making sure that Vacation Bible School had enough cookies and juice. Once her hearing loss was too great to hear the message at church services, she remained faithful and could be found reading her Bible daily. In her last days, Marian mentioned that her favorite Bible verse was Ephesians 4:32, “Be kind to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Its fair to say that she lived this verse out in her life and relationships.
A celebration of life for Marian will be held Thursday, August 5th at 10:00 am at Olinger Chapel Hill, 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121, followed by a reception.
