Louise Abeyta, known as ‘Chat’ to most, was preceded by her beloved Jerome P. Abeyta and her son, Vincent Abeyta.
Survived by her children, Laura, Christine (Ken, deceased), Monica, Tyrone (Rhea), 13 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren. Additionally, Sister-in-Laws, countless Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and a friend Bernie Lucero, and many other life long Friends.
Louise was preceded by her parents Manuel and Flora Martinez, and 11 Siblings.
She grew up in the Curtis Park area of Denver where she learned how to swim, participated on the swim team and was a junior lifeguard. She was one to make sure that all her children and grandchildren learned how to swim. She attended Mitchell Elementary, Cole Junior High, and Manuel High School where she met Jerome. He spied on her walking the halls of Manuel High School, quickly became her best friend and would eventually become her husband. They were married for 49 years before his passing.
She was a homemaker until she entered the workforce and became a Paralegal with the Legal Aid Society of Denver, and then continued her career and retired from the City and County of Denver, Public Works Department.
She was a member of Light of the World Catholic Church where she participated in the church choir, and adoration. In her retirement years she learned to play the saxophone in the adult Denver City band, along with her husband.
Family and Friends will remember her for professing the Word of God and spreading his word daily. She helped her grandchildren with religious faith and education to achieve their Catholic sacraments.
She was a wonderful cook and made many special meals for holidays and special occasions. She taught all of her children how to cook. Her family was most important to her, and she took pride in caring for her Grandchildren while attending sporting events and special occasions in each of their lives.
Louise will be remembered by all of her Grandchildren as ‘Grandma Chat’ and was the matriarch of the family. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
