Always in our hearts
Kirsten Rae Sackschewsky, maiden name Zeh, was born on December 9th, 1980. She lived in Broomfield, Colorado with her husband Derek. From the beginning, Kirsten was an individual who knew what she wanted and was unapologetic for it. Growing up, Kirsten loved to ski, travel with her family, was an ardent competitive swimmer, and a frequent beachgoer. Kirsten always had a passion for animals, marine life, and biology and her love for science continued to grow through her entire life. She graduated from CU Boulder earning a degree in Evolutionary Biology in 2005. She continued her studies at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia as well as conservation in New Zealand. Through her life she often volunteered at Ocean Journey and Health fairs. Kirsten spent many years of her life as a veterinarian tech, where she would often adopt abandoned animals. Kirsten became a mother to a beautiful little girl named Kailyn in 2008. Kirsten was fierce when it came to her love for Kailyn and cherished all the moments she had with her.
In 2013, Kirsten married the love of her life, Derek Sackschewsky. Derek and Kirsten went on many adventures together and had many more to plan. They shared a passion for swimming, the Denver Broncos, telling jokes, festivals, and exploring new recipes/cuisines. Kirsten and Derek always found a way to make each other laugh- even during the toughest of times.
Kirsten was a soul who loved to bring joy to others and insisted on being social and reaching out to family and friends daily. To know her was to laugh with her and have her forever ingrained in your life. Kirsten passed away from Interstitial Lung Disease on April 30th, 2021, after several years of fighting. Her strength and will allowed her to have extra time with her husband, daughter and family. She was preceded by her father, Raymond Zeh and is survived by her husband Derek Sackschewsky, daughter Kailyn Cramer-Zeh, and her mother Phyllis Zeh.
