Kathy was married for 38 years to her husband, David, with whom she had three wonderful children – Nathan (Laura and grandson Isaac), Thomas, and Elizabeth (Jimmy).
Kathy was a gentle soul who was absolutely dedicated to her family, friends and her faith. She was a truly kind person, quick to smile and to laugh, who made you feel blessed that she counted you as a friend. Growing up on the farm in Nebraska taught her a work ethic that she applied to all her endeavors. While she avoided the limelight, preferring to work in support, she never hesitated to lead if needed. She exemplified the servant lifestyle, always looking for an opportunity to help others. She never had an unkind word for any person, no matter how much she might have disagreed. To our knowledge, she only ever used one cussword (jack___), and that was only directed towards our dog when she misbehaved.
Kathy passed away in the early morning hours of November 12 with her loving husband at her side. She had bravely battled brain cancer for more than eighteen months, but never once complained about the effects of the illness, or even that she had been stricken with so deadly a disease. She often said, “It’s scary, but I’m not scared.” The statement was not only a reflection of her nature, but of her tremendous faith in God. She knew that her time here was but a tiny fraction of her existence, so she was not afraid of what came next.
While we rejoice in the sure knowledge that Kathy is at home with God, we grieve for the loss of one so special. Kathy was very active in her church, so memorials may be directed to the general fund at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 7691 South University Blvd., Centennial, Colorado 80122, in her name.
