John “Jack” Serafini Pecoraro, age 83, loving husband, father and grandfather of six, retired Air Force Master Sergeant and Lockheed Martin Security Specialist, died on Friday, November 5, 2021. Jack had many military, civilian, academic and field accomplishments, traveling the world for various assignments to Southeast Asia and Europe. His longer term assignments included Berlin Germany, Langley AFB VA, Nance France, Raco MI, Clear Alaska, Mildenhall England, Wurtsmith AFB MI, Kadena AFB Okinawa, Brooks AFB TX and Sunnyvale CA.
His greatest love and legacy however was his family. Jack and Nancy met in northern Michigan and were married on March 20, 1965. He was a great husband and devoted family man, once hitchhiking his way home from Alaska to see his family. He was a proud father and grandfather to his girls and six beautiful grandchildren. He was there for every birth, wedding, graduation, holiday and many family events and celebrations. Jack was a jokester and great storyteller, and loved to make his family and friends laugh. He was our rock, first love and our hero.
He loved to watch his grandchildren’s soccer, baseball, basketball and football games as well as their dance, cheer, stunt and bowling events. You name it and he was there rooting for them. He also enjoyed investing and watching the financial news. You could often find Jack at the local lodge, reading the newspapers and magazines, playing poker and shooting pool, or having a tall stack of pancakes with family at the local IHOP.
Jack was born in Weymouth Massachusetts on June 13, 1938. He attended Norview High School and graduated in 1956. He enlisted in the US Army at the age of 18 and then joined the US Air Force at the age of 20 where he spent the next 22 years working in security and defense. Following his military retirement, he continued his career at Lockheed Martin until his final retirement in 1997. He was preceded in death by his mother Alice Christine (Serafini) Pecoraro Lynch and stepfather John William Lynch. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Ellen Rebecca “Becky” Pecoraro, brother James Vincent Pecoraro and brothers-in-law James Kyle Grimm and Joseph Anthony Abdelnour.
Jack is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Ellen (Morris) Pecoraro and daughters Toni Marie (Pecoraro) Mohs (Kevin Duane Mohs) and Christine Marie (Pecoraro) DuPont (Todd Glenn DuPont), and grandchildren Jonathan Taylor Mohs, Christopher Adam Mohs, Matthew Killian Mohs, Brooke Marie DuPont, Danielle Rebecca DuPont and David John DuPont.
