Gary was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and moved to Casper, Wyoming in 2007. Gary graduated from Sheridan Highschool in 1993. He competed in and won the Colorado Chrysler AAA Troubleshooting contest and went on to compete in the Nationals in Washington D.C. He later attended American Automotive and Diesel College on scholarships awarded from his competitions. Gary was kindhearted and always willing to help anyone with anything. He loved his family and his pets. He enjoyed playing games, singing karaoke, being outdoors, four-wheeling and camping. Gary also had a green thumb and could nurse any plant back to health. He had a passion for his work as a plant mechanic at both Tallgrass/Kinder and Duraline. Gary will be remembered for his bright smile, kind heart and storytelling abilities.
Gary is survived by his parents Terry and Beverly Scott, sister and brother-in-law Kelli and David Garrity, brother Brian Scott and his fiancé Suzy Powell, brother Mark Scott, nieces Aimee Scott and Payge Pennell, and step-grandmother Janet Harvey. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Harold and Rosalie Harvey, Kathryn Scott, and Harry and Martha Scott.

A celebration of life for Gary will be held Friday, June 16, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121. A graveside service will occur Friday, June 16, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121. A reception will occur Friday, June 16, 2023 from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121.
