Doug was born on September 29, 1969 in Chicago, Illinois to Richard Thomas and Judith Knoble (Anderson) Thompson.
Doug graduated from Miami University in 1991, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Economics. He married the love of his life, Jill Elizabeth Penry, on July 2, 1994 in Dayton, Ohio, and the couple later welcomed three children into the family. Continuing his education, Doug obtained a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati in 1995. The family lived in Mariemont, Ohio before moving to Centennial, Colorado in 2009, where Doug had a successful career as the Director of Treasury for IHS Markit. In his personal time, Doug was an avid runner, completing seven marathons in his lifetime. He loved golfing, anything outdoors, traveling with his family, and reading. Above all, Doug’s proudest accomplishment was his family. He was a committed husband, loving father, and never compromised his support and dedication to his family.
Doug inspired leadership, integrity, and strength of character in his personal and professional life. His personal strength and positive life outlook never wavered, even when faced with a cancer diagnosis. Doug had a very strong work ethic and encouraged others to be better, just by being himself. He was truly loved and respected by everyone who had the honor of knowing him.
Those left to cherish Doug’s memory include his wife of 24 years, Jill Penry Thompson; his three children, Nicholas, Anderson, and Samuel; his parents, Dick and Judy Thompson; his siblings, Julie (Tom) Hoover and Dennis (Julie) Thompson; his mother and father in-law, Susan and Jim Gorham and Richard Penry; his brother and sister in-law, Doug (Joanna) Penry; seven nieces and nephews; and countless other family members and friends.
