Dorothy Marie Rice

September 11, 1924 - July 1, 2014

Dorothy was born on the homestead ranch of her parents Earnest J. Elliott and Verbena White - Elliott. The ranch was located near Rush Creek east of Karval, Lincoln County, Colorado. She attended Prairie Grove Elementary and Hugo High School. Dorothy married Karl Rice on May 27, 1943 in Rapid City, SD while Karl was serving in the US Army Air Corp. She and Karl had no children, but were blessed with many loved nephews and nieces. She was the sixth of seven children in the Elliott family. Her siblings were Ina Whittlesey, Fred Elvin (Bud) Elliott, Lucy Muriel Elliott (died in infancy), Virginia Connelley, Bessie M. Bombeck and Robert Lee Elliott. Bessie is the only surviving sibling. Dorothy and Karl lived in the Denver area their whole adult lives. They were active members of Baptist churches where she worked with the young people. Dorothy worked at Montgomery Wards here in Denver Colorado, as an accountant for 32 years before retiring. We will miss your bright wit and broad smile.
