born to James and Sandra (Pfieffer) Ranney on November 1, 1964 in Peoria, IL. A few short
years later she became the “big” sister to James Ranney Jr.
She grew up in East Peoria, IL. where she met her lifelong friend Tonya TerMaat. While at East
Peoria High School she was on the Poms team and placed 4th academically in her 1982
graduating class. She very much enjoyed her time at East Peoria HS and her classmates. Chris
then continued her education at the University of Iowa. While at Iowa she studied Finance,
attended many of the Hawkeyes football and basketball games, and was a proud member of the
Kappa Alpha Theta sorority before graduating in 1986.
Chris decided to move to Colorado in 1986 and started her career in downtown Denver at United
Bank as a teller before moving over to Pitney Bowes as a Denver area sales representative. Chris
then met her future husband, Nick Eiten, of Ladd, IL. Chris and Nick were raised 60 miles apart
in Illinois but ended up meeting one another in a Denver apartment complex. They got married
on October 20, 1990 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Peoria, IL, and not long after they
decided to settle down in Highlands Ranch, CO to begin their lives together.
Chris was an extremely thoughtful and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend to all
and was considered a Mom to many. She was an especially proud fan of her Chicago Cubs,
Bears, and Iowa Hawkeyes. Upon the birth of their second of four children, Chris decided to stay
at home and devote as much time as possible to raising her children. She found no greater joy in
life than being with and raising her children and her door was always open to anyone in need.
Chris was very involved with her children as they progressed through Cougar Run Grade School
and Cresthill Middle School and especially enjoyed being class mom many of those years. As her
kids moved on to high school, she was involved with multiple booster clubs for Highlands Ranch
High School, including Football, Lacrosse, Softball, and Tennis, along with lending a helping
hand anywhere else needed.
Christine is survived by her immediate family: Zachary, Joshua, Nicole, Paige, and former
husband Nick Eiten of Highlands Ranch, CO. She is also survived by her parents James and
Sandra Ranney of East Peoria, IL as well as her brother James Ranney Jr. of Baltimore, MD.
Christine’s visitation will be from 2 - 4:15 p.m. Friday, December 3 at Olinger Chapel Hill
Mortuary & Cemetery, 6601 S. Colorado Blvd. in Littleton. From 4:15 – 5pm we’ll spend some
time reminiscing about Chris’s wonderful life. Burial will be at the same location on December 4
at 10am.
