To the Jackson family,

My name is Nachum Hurvitz, and I was Sean's team lead for many years at SSA. Although I am at a different agency, several SSA folks reached out to me to let me know about Sean's passing. 

Sean was extremely competent technically and a true team player. But what I remember the most is his humor, his positive attitude and the energy he brought to the office every day.  I was saddened to hear about his untimely passing, but I hope the joy and happiness he sprinkled wherever he went will serve as a comfort to the family

Lifelong Friend and Brother. We will miss you.

You are the best dad a girl could ask for. You taught me how to joke off the bad days, and how to bring light into my worst, darkest moments imaginable. You taught me that laughter is the best medicine , and if that doesn’t work try a boba tea. You taught me how to ride a bike, skateboard , rollerblades , how to swim, how to play softball, and even the boring stuff like how to do your taxes and how to apply for a house. Things that no wishes and no one was taught- how to move on with out you… I wish your healing journey was easier for you, but I’m so damn lucky to have been your best friend for my 23 years of life so far. And I hope you’re stress free, drinkin boba tea, and GI Joes are free wherever you are! I love you so much dad, but you better haunt me!! “Dad, living room lights off” haha! Get it, I won’t need the Alexa’s anymore. I love you dad I’m gonna miss you so much it hurts.

This news was quite startling.
In last few years that I have had known Shawn from work, he was one of the nicest person tåo work with. A very humble,  down to earth person who would always smile no matter how difficult the issues we were discussing. I suppose smiling was his way to insulate his colleagues from the beast that he was battling.  Rest in peace Shawn, you will be greatly missed!

I've met Shawn a couple of times in the last few years. He was my husband's good friend and coworker. The first time I met Shawn was to go to a Washington Capitals playoff game. David (my husband) and Shawn had seats across the arena from me. I remember looking and not being able to locate them even though I knew what section they were sitting in. After an hour, I looked over and saw two men jumping up and down and waving like crazy at me :). I remember chuckling and thinking that even Shawn was jumping up and down waving at me, so we can all move on and watch the game in peace :) 

Shawn, words can't describe how shocked we are to hear of your passing. I'd like to think that you are somewhere beautiful, pain-free and happy, watching over your family and friends. May you rest in eternal paradise. Fly high, Shawn! 🕊
