Mary Ann and I had been friends since we were teenagers. She and her brother Bob moved into my neighborhood after there mother passed. As it turned out they were living just behind me. We saw each other again at neighborhood gatherings and also we visited each other during the holidays. 
I had no idea that she passed. My thoughts and prayers are with Bob and all the family

My wife and I bought Bob and Mary Ann's home from their parents on Euclid Ave.  Mary Ann became a great freind to my three daughters, and I will always remember her..."Boy,,,,,"  She was a great neighbor, freind, church member and person.   I see from the other notes, that her impact on her community was significant. It is a wonderful statement about someone many might have considered ordinary but who had an extraordinary impact on the people she lived among.  I look forward to hearing the rest of her story along with so many other saints that have proceeded us,  May we all be found in such great company!  Grace and Peace she left with all who knew her. Mary Ann, the kindest, most thoughtful and sweetest person I have had the pleasure of knowing.  I will miss her cheery smile and her happy welcomes in the morning.  The smiles that she brought us all with her wonderful holiday sparkles and her wonderful baked goods will be missed.  You brought us so much love💗 I hope you know how much we love you!

I will miss you when I come into school early.  You always gave me a cheerful greeting and brightened the day.  

Mary Ann was like family to me. I've known her for about 19 years when she was my neighbor in Academy Heights. My twin daughters, Jenny and Jane, would run down to the street corner to greet Mary Ann as she got off the bus from working downtown. She came to all their figure skating shows and treated them as her nieces. She sent everyone birthday cards and a holiday was never missed. Even the week before she passed she was positive. She will be missed dearly because she touched my life and made it better. 

Our family at Hair -M will miss Mary Ann and her smiling face.. She would come in smiling and always ask about everybody  and how we were doing.She never forgot our birthdays, and at Christmas she would come in bearing gifts and her special cheesecakes for everyone! she was a sweetheart and we will miss her. I have been doing her hair for at least 20 years.  She had a heart of gold. RIP Mary Ann

There are few people who impact the lives of so many in such a special way; Mary Ann was one of those people.  Her joy for life was the greatest gift that she gave to all of us at Catonsville High.  That joy was evident when she baked for us, remembered our birthdays, and coordinated her shirts and socks for every occasion.  Our daily comedic banter was giggle inducing and brought me great happiness.  Mary Ann was the kindest person with a genuinely beautiful soul.  I am truly heartbroken and miss her terribly.

My family had the privilege of being Mary Ann’s neighbor, friend and church member for over 30 years.  She never missed a birthday or anniversary and her cards always brightened our day.  We shared a love of Star Trek and Mary Ann always insisted I named our son Jordi after Geordi La Forge from Star Trek the Next Generation (which I did not).  She and my husband Danny had a running joke every time we sang the hymn, “To God be the Glory, Great Things He Hath Done” because the third verse included the word “transport” which reminded her of Star Trek.  Danny would snicker and Mary Ann would shoot him a look as if to say, “Boy, you best behave or I’m gonna break out my wooden spoon and bust you up.”  After church they would both laugh about it. On Monday, Mary Ann was transported to her heavenly home.  I will miss her deeply but am glad that she will be spending this Christmas with Jesus. 

Mary Ann was one of the kindest persons I've ever had the pleasure to know.  I never heard her speak an unkind word to anyone,  although in the administrative offices  she was tested many times. Schools can be a place of gossip and rumors but she refused to ever go down that road. She wore her love on her sleeve (or colorful holiday blouse) for the people she worked with and worked for. CHS was blessed to have her and she will be missed by all.

Mary Ann was the sweetest person I have ever met.  She always had the most pleasant personality with a positive attitude.  She saw the good in everyone.  We were total opposites but maintained a friendship for over 35 years.  She always had a lemon cake for me when I came to pick her up.  When she was at Mercantile, she would make her macaroons and Mandarin orange cake which we named MaryAnndarin cake.  She will be missed. RIP

From the time Mary Ann joined us at CHS, she became a touchstone of kindness and cheer for so many of us.  Every morning, I was greeted with a big smile and a hello.  I looked forward to it and purposefully went through the main office first thing to see her.  It just started the morning right.  Many mornings, she would have baked goods for us and would always tell me when she brought the lemon cake as that was my favorite.  During years of summer school, I got to know Mary Ann better when we carpooled at the end of the day.  She was always positive, warm, and genuine when we talked about our lives.  Mary Ann loved well; she loved God; she loved her brother, and she loved all of us.  She has left a void and will be missed.

Oddly enough, when I would see her, I never called her anything but “Ms. Hackley.”  I never thought about it until today.  There is no one else I can think of I addressed in this formal a manner at all times.  Maybe there was some unconscious motivation because I was always in the presence of a sweeter and kinder soul than I could ever be.  Once I saw her and she was upset with someone in the building.  Even then she did not have a bad thing to say about them.  There is the difference.  While I would have lambasted that person with every epithet that came to mind, she still remained the kind soul she always was.  Rest In Peace.

Mary Ann always knew how to brighten a day.  She greeted you with cheery words and a bright smile.  Her generosity was remarkable--although I tried to resist her baked goods--I never could turn down the amazing lemon or chocolate cake that she shared with the faculty.  

Mary Ann was the sweetest, kindest, happiest person I know. Her love of life was so contagious when she was around. She was a great friend to everyone. Praying for family and friends as memories help us through. Rest in peace Mary Ann, I miss you dearly.

I will miss  Mary Ann's voice calling into my room and her smile whenever I walked into the AP's office.  She was very welcoming and she made me feel at home when I joined the CHS family. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Mary Ann was a consistent bright light in everyone's day. No matter what else was going on, she always had a kind word, a big smile, and a friendly wave. She was a person who always made those around her better, simply for having been in her presence, and the impact she had on our CHS family will last forever. I am so grateful to have had this beautiful soul in my life. Rest peacefully my sweet friend. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

Mary Ann brought love and pure joy into the school building. In a time when the stresses and pressures of education, on both students and staff, are so high, Mary Ann continually chose kindness every day. Never bitter or scorned, she saw her work as an opportunity to connect with others and show love. The school system needed her, her colleagues needed her, her students needed her, the world needs more people like her. 
Sending peace and healing to all who knew and loved her beautiful soul.

Mary Ann loved CHS with a remarkable and unconditional love. She saw only the good in everyone and everything, wanted only to support the rest of us in our own work, and celebrated everyone's accomplishments as if they were her own.
She made life better for everyone in the building. 
What an accomplishment.
And she loved loved loved Christmas week!
My heart goes out to her family, but also to the CHS community.  
This is a profound loss at the heart of the school.

Mary Ann’s kindness and enthusiasm for life was infectious. The students of CHS loved her as much as the staff did. She often called into classrooms on the intercom with a hearty, “This is Mary Ann!” and the students would often shout, “Hi, Mary Ann!” right along with me, because her friendly tone was so much fun. She made the mundane special. I will always remember her smile and good cheer and be inspired by her example.

I always so much enjoyed when she would call into my room searching for a student. I’d stop my lesson and have a chat with her about her day, weekend plans or a coming holiday. We always got a chuckle from it and she never ceased to indulge my silliness with kindness and warmth. I will miss her. 

My favorite memories of Mary Ann are about fashion. Shirts in particular.  She was always ready with a compliment whenever she noticed I was wearing a new one. And when she had a new one, especially those with alternating sequins, her face would light up, and she’d say “check this out”.  I loved her laugh, and her smile, and her very kind heart. She was loved by many. Praying for peace for her family, and may God rest her soul.

I worked with Mary Ann at Catonsville High, she was the sweetest person I know, always kind, always smiling, always happy. Loved her brother Bob, loved her job and all of her co-workers.
