Claire D. Murphy

Claire attended St. Patrick Elementary and High School. She also enjoyed being a cheerleader while in High School. She graduated with honors and then attended Immaculata College for Women in PA, earning her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. Afterwards she went on to earn her Master's Degree in Special Education at University of New Mexico.

Claire spent much of her career assisting international students with reading, writing, spelling, and grammar in the Howard County School System and with the Howard County Library. She also helped residents at Lorien Nursing Center in Columbia on the weekends, and volunteered with prayer meetings at the Maryland Women's Prison in Jessup. Towards the end of her working life, Claire worked at the Salvation Army of Howard County, assisting with the Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets, and with emergency assistance.

Claire is survived by her sister, Carol Ann Kozimor and her husband Kenneth Kozimor; nieces Karen Clifford, husband, Rodney, Kim Kozimor; nephews, Kenneth G. Kozimor and Christopher Kozimor, his wife Regina Kozimor and 6 great nieces and 4 great nephews.

Claire was a member of Bethel Assembly of God in Savage, MD.

In 2012 she suffered from a severe double pneumonia. Then in 2013 she needed triple bypass surgery. Since then, Claire has resided in a Rehab facility or a long term care facility.

A visitation for Claire will be held Friday, January 5, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sterling-Ashton-Schwab-Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville, Inc., 1630 Edmondson Ave, Catonsville, MD 21228,with a funeral service at 4:00. Interment at a later date in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ.
