Suzanne received her high school education in Belgium. At the age of 18 she traveled to the US as a war bride. From Belgium she traveled by boat and once she reached New York she traveled by train to her husband's family farm in the Castle Rock area of Colorado.
Suzanne married George H Johnson and they raised 3 children. She worked for Douglas County Schools as a cook for 20 years before retiring in 1987. She has resided in Castle Rock with her family since she first came to the US.
Suzanne enjoyed knitting, crocheting and working with stained glass. She had a great sense of humor and an outgoing personality. She had a green thumb and loved to garden. Her kitchen often looked like a nursery and she was very skilled at starting new plants from previous plants. Above all she loved to spend time with her family, spoiling her grandchildren was an especially fond past time.
Suzanne is survived by her daughter Annette Klingensmith; her son Tim Johnson, and 3 Grandchildren.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her husband George Johnson; her daughter Patricia Johnson; her father Albert Destrebecq; her mother Victorine Destrebecq; 2 brother and 1 sister.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 10:00am at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Suzanne's memory may be made to Children's Hospital Colorado.
