Robert James Leix passed away surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with cancer that spanned over 25 years. His strength and determination to beat the horrible disease throughout the years was amazing, unfortunately a very aggressive Leukemia/Blood Cancer took his life on June 10th., 2020 – Robert was 79 years.
Robert was born to parents Bernard and Jean Leix, on October, 18th., 1941. Robert grew up in New South Wales, Australia and made many personal & professional accomplishments over his lifetime.
He was a Life Member of the Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club, where he served as President for many years and was instrumental in the growth and success of the Clubs future. Robert had a love and passion for Travel, Business and Sales & Marketing that brought him and his young Family to the United States of America in 1981 to further pursue his accomplished career. Robert became a leader in the Heavy Construction Equipment and Automotive/Outdoor Industries and held Sr. Director of Sales & Marketing, General Manager and Vice President positions for many strong American and Australian companies, where he was instrumental for the growth and success of each multi-million dollar corporation, throughout his long career.
Robert married Margaret (Worswick) Leix in 1968 at St. Andrews Church, Cronulla NSW, Australia and they had three children. He is survived by his wife and their three children; Jennifer (James) Milliron, Allison (Robin) Hobart and Tony (Letina) Leix. In addition, his grandchildren Stephen (deceased), Robert, Amanda, Ian, Austyn and Lucas. As well as extended families of Geoffrey (deceased), Gwen, Bronwyn and Jordan Leix and relatives. He was a loving Father and always genuine, extremely giving, supportive and positive. In his later years he enjoyed being a Grandfather “Poppy” to our growing family.
Robert was also known for his love for Australia and his “Aussie Mates”. He was very loyal and social with many Dear Lifelong Friends and loved surrounding himself with these relationships throughout his entire lifetime. He also had a passion for Sport and throughout his life played squash & tennis, swam and in his later years enjoyed playing golf whenever possible.
Robert James Leix was cremated on June 16th., 2020 in Denver, CO. surrounded by the immediate Family. Per Robert’s wishes, his life will be celebrated in Sydney, Australia with an organized ceremony and ash spreading at the Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club, as soon as his family can coordinate this special event. Due to the current uncertain times, the family will provide details for this event once confirmed.
