Patrick “Pat” Terry Hood, 82, of Castle Rock, Colorado, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2020 at Sky Ridge Medical Center. In his final days, he was surrounded by family and friends who would read to him and hold his hand to keep him comfortable.
Pat was born in Independence, Missouri to the late Hollis and Wanda Hood on September 30, 1937. He graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City, MO. While attending the University of Missouri, Pat married Marcia (Cairns) on September 8, 1956. He worked for Armco Steel Corp., Brocker Steel Corp. in York, PA, and Phoenix Steel in Joliet, IL. In 1973, he was hired by The Rio Grande Co. in Denver where he worked until his retirement in 1998. Throughout his life, he was dedicated to his faith and the Lutheran Church. He was a frequent volunteer at Epiphany Lutheran Church, especially assisting with packing clothing for the “Orphan Grain Train.”
Pat and Marcia were avid travelers following his retirement, traveling to all 50 states, Europe, Asia and Egypt. They enjoyed traveling in their RV and making new friends. They enjoyed playing cards and learning new games that they would teach to other friends and their grandchildren.
Pat is survived by his wife Marcia Hood, 3 Children; Bill Hood (Deborah Arnold), Cheryl Byrne (Bob), and Karen Hood, his brother Dennis, grandchildren; Elizabeth Hood, David Hood (Calla), Logan Hood, John Byrne, Alyssa Bartle, Dylan Bartle, and Ethan Bartle, and one great-grandchild expected in September.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Castle Rock on February 29 at 11:00 AM with a luncheon to follow at the church.
