Johanna Brewster Carlson Santucci of Sedalia, Colorado passed away on January 17, 2023 surrounded by her family. Johanna was born on March 8, 1944 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Johan A. Carlson and Constance Carpenter Brewster and raised in Wallingford, Pennsylvania. Johanna graduated from Northfield Mount Hermon Preparatory School in Massachusetts and Pembroke College of Brown University. She then married and became a mother to Maria (Steve), Patricia (Matt) and Janice (Jeff).
Johanna worked as a paralegal and graduated from Rutgers School of Law in 1991. She worked in the mortgage industry, relocated to Colorado and retired after working for the State. She loved hiking and snowshoeing with her brother and exploring Colorado with her friend Katherine. Johanna traveled throughout the United States and Europe. A trip to a Bhutan was a highlight. There was never a home project too big for Johanna to not try to do herself. She loved her garden, flowers, books, a good glass of wine and her dogs. She spent countless hours researching genealogy and attained membership in the Mayflower Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She always had an open ear and advice for her daughters and her strength will forever serve as an example of how to live life.
She is survived by her daughters, sons in law and grandchildren Cole (Melissa), Michael, Ian, Mathias and Brady, her brother Erik Carlson and sister-in-law Deborah, and dear friends Ann Biondi and Katherine Quinby.
At her request, there will be no funeral. If so inclined, donations in Johanna’s honor may be directed to the Rheumatology Research Foundation.
