Jo Ann Spencer

Jo Ann Spencer, age 81, of Sedalia, Colorado passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022. Jo was born April 24, 1941. She is preceded in death by her parents, Kermit and LouElla Golgart and brother, Larry Golgart.

Jo was married for nearly 62 years to Sam Spencer. They were married on September 4, 1960.

Together, they raised three children; Todd (Tracy), Craig, and Julie Spencer. She loved and cherished her grandchildren; Stephanie (Maj Kurt Lemmen), Heather Spencer (SSgt Brad Pugmire), Kayla McLean, Luke McLean, Angela (Ian Lahlum), 2LT Matthew Stark (Kristen) and Sarah Stark. She is survived by her husband, Sam, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, in-laws and many beloved friends.

Jo grew up on a ranch in northern Colorado where she learned to drive the feed truck at age 5! She went to a one-room school house where she skipped two grades, and attended Colorado State University at the age of 16 as the youngest student on campus. Jo loved being a Gamma Phi Beta, where she made many friends and sorority sisters. She was bright, witty, loving, and passionate about taking care of people, animals, and her home. She and her family raised sheep for over 35 years. She loved our Lord, prayed for others, helped those in need, and spread God's love. She was an active community member where she served Douglas County 4-H for decades, supported and loved working with many young people by inspiring them to never give up on their dreams. She will be dearly missed by those who loved her and knew her.

Celebration of Life for Jo Ann Spencer will be held Friday, July 15, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel, 407 Jerry Street, Castle Rock, CO 80104.
