William John Zisa, late of Cary, North Carolina, 87 years of age, died Thursday, in Cary, North Carolina. A native of Hackensack, New Jersey, Bill graduated from Hackensack High School and served in the United States Navy throughout World War II, before returning to earn a degree in electrical engineering from Newark College Of Engineering, Newark New Jersey.
Bill made Cary his home in 1957 and has lived here ever since. He retired from Westinghouse, LVT Division, Raleigh, North Carolina in 1984 and spent the better part of the next twenty years traveling with his wife Viola. Bill was active in his community and his church, St. Michael The Archangel.
He is preceded in death by his parents William J. Zisa and Mary M. Zisa, his brother Joseph Francis Zisa, his sister Bertha Zisa and by his beloved wife Viola Zisa and is survived by his daughter, Nancy Zisa Trawick (Guy Trawick) of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and James Zisa (Lori Brown), of Wilmington, North Carolina and grandchildren Kelly Trawick and Bryan Trawick.
In life, Bill was a kind, sweet, gentle man with friends and family scattered across the globe. He is remembered well in death and is missed greatly by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, 1:00 p.m., at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Cary, North Carolina, with visitation hosted by his family at 12.00 p.m preceding the service.
