Kelly was born to the late Samuel King Mouzon and Beulah Wilkins Mouzon on July 15, 1963 in Rocky Mount, NC.
Kelly graduated from East Carolina University in 1986 with Bachelor of Science of Nursing. She later earned a Master of Science in Maternal-Child Nursing from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in 1991. Kelly was a Registered Nurse for 32 years. She spent 17 years employed as a Clinical Nurse for Obstetrics at UNC Hospitals and spent the last 15 years as a Professor of Nursing at Wake Technical Community College.
Kelly’s two greatest passions in her life were her children and her work as a nursing instructor. She was a devoted and loving mother to two daughters, Rebecca Davis (28) of Raleigh, and Alexandra Davis (26) of Greenville, NC. While Kelly had many achievements, she was most proud of her daughters. When Kelly wasn’t spending time with her children or her friends, she was at work teaching future nurses. Kelly was adored by her students and was well known for her humor in the classroom. Her favorite part of her job was supervising nursing students at Hilltop Home, a home for children with severe developmental disabilities.
Kelly will be remembered for her endless love for her children, her fantastic sense of humor, her spunky personality, and her insatiable quest for bubble gum. She was truly the life of the party and always made friends wherever she went. Her friends kept Kelly smiling through her toughest days.
She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca and Alexandra Davis; her mother, Beulah Wilkins Mouzon of Cary; her brother Allen Mouzon and wife Kim of Thomasville; her former husband Alton Ray Davis of Cary; her aunt Blanche and husband Koka Booth of Cary; and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel King Mouzon of Rocky Mount.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 7pm-9pm on Tuesday, September 4 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511.
