Stanley A. Bauder, 87, has gone to that big fishing lake in the sky. He left us on Thursday, Nov. 24, following a brief illness -- steadfast to the last in his good humor, his grace, and his fidelity to our country.
Stan was preceded in death by his wife, Frances. Surviving him are his son, Lawrence; his daughters, Lorraine, Mary, Margaret, and Kathy; his sister, Barbara; a coterie of nephews, nieces, cousins, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and his beloved feline pal, Grey Ghost.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Stan was a patriot and a staunch defender of our freedom. He served our country in World War II and never stopped believing in America's greatness, later in life becoming Commander of VFW Post 8645 in New Paltz, N.Y.
A service will be held Nov. 29 at 11:00 am at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary, North Carolina, where Stan spent his final years watching John Wayne flicks and getting into heated card games with his family.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to give to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Stan's name at vfw.org/donate.
