Philip Wayne Lamm, 67, of Cary, North Carolina passed away peacefully on February 25, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 19th 1948, in Clarksburg, West Virginia and is the son of Helen Criss Lamm and the late Carl Lamm. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Barbara Roth Lamm, son and daughter-in-law, Garrett and Katie Chaulklin Lamm of Holly Springs, NC, son, Bryan Lamm of Cary, NC, two granddaughters, Lillian Lamm and Ashland Lamm and sisters, Judy Wilson and Nancy McNally, both of Clarksburg, WV, Jane Dodd of Reynoldsville, WV, and his twin sister, Phyllis Pearson and her husband, Jack of Rockingham, NC, along with several nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Victory High School in 1966, Phil attended West Virginia University where he played football and earned his civil engineering degree. In 1981, he relocated to Cary and was the owner of Lamm Realty Services, a civil engineering consultant firm from which he retired in 2008. He also served on the Board of Directors for Kildaire Farms II HOA for over 20 years.
Phil’s greatest joy in life was caring for others each and every day. He cherished his family, and Barbara’s family, and regarded them with the utmost kindness, respect, warmth and love. Garrett and Bryan made him very proud especially as they grew into adults and became the loving and engaging fathers that they are- just as their dad had been. He loved spending time with his darling granddaughters, Lillian and Ashland who knew they could definitely get Grandpa to do anything they wanted!!! Beach trips with family and friends were always special to Phil, as were trips back home to West Virginia. He loved watching his favorite teams, Duke and his Alma Mater, West Virginia University, play sports. He loved every holiday, especially Christmas.
Phil was a wonderful son, husband, father, brother and friend. He forgave freely and lived by his conviction, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. He is deeply loved and he will be forever missed by all of us who were fortunate enough to be touched by his life.
Services will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Rd. Cary, NC on Saturday, March 5th at 3:00 p.m.
Phil was most giving to all around him, especially around the Holidays. He took absolute joy in seeing the smiles on his family’s faces when opening gifts on Christmas Day, and we want to honor him by continuing to provide Christmas gifts for less fortunate families.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Toys for Tots, run by the US Marines, in Phil’s name.
