Born in Wake County on November 17, 1933 to Arthur C, and Ethel S. Franklin, he was the youngest of 4 brothers all of whom are deceased.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Katherine "Kay" Foskey Franklin.
Rhue is survived by son Philip Franklin (Wilma), daughter Leisa Brooks (Doug) and 3 grandchildren, Daniel Branch (Mandy), Bennett Branch (Leslie) and Andrea Franklin. His family, small, but the love for his children and grandchildren was immeasurable in every way.
Rhue was a 29 year US Postal Employee, retiring in 1992.
During the 1970's and 80's he worked as a part time announcer on WPTF Radio in Raleigh and also was the fiddle player in the band Country Squires and Brothers In Bluegrass. Between 1980 and 1995 he served as M.C. for Leon Jordans big band, The Continentals. At this time he became better known by the first name, "Phil".
His passion was his music starting as a small child. As a teen he played the Trombone in the Cary High School Band. Phil was gifted with the talent to learn and play music by ear and not by reading sheet music. His passion for making music continued throughout his life and even into his late 80's he would meet with friends at home for jam sessions one day each week up until the day his heavenly father called him home.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Brown-Wynne Chapel, Cary on Saturday April 16, 2022 at 2:00. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Clayton NC
