Lisa Beverly Wilbourne, 65, of Cary, North Carolina passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of our Lord on June 28, 2024 after a courageous seven and half year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Lisa was born to Edward and Constance Beverly on October 14, 1958 in Burlington, North Carolina. She moved to Richmond, Virginia in elementary school and met her husband, Kirk, as a teenager. Lisa graduated with a B.A. in Art Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. Kirk and Lisa were married in 1981 before moving to North Carolina to start their careers and their family. Lisa was a teacher for several years and then became a successful Realtor for 30 years.
Lisa will be remembered for her boundless energy, positivity, and ability to bring people together; she was a gifted cook and entertainer, frequently hosting large parties and every family holiday and event. She loved to travel and was the designated leader; she made everything better for everyone.
Faith in God was a key part of Lisa’s life and the guiding light in helping her cope with cancer. She demonstrated grace and courage and was an inspiration to many. She continued to lead a happy and meaningful life despite the bad times and struggles. During these difficult times, there were many good days and even during this time, she continued to focus on others.
Lisa was a friend to many and established deep connections with people. Her compassionate nature and generous spirit were evident in her dedication to spending quality time and offering support to others. Throughout her life, she maintained strong ties with her beloved cousins. Above all, Lisa cherished motherhood and grandmotherhood.
Lisa dearly loved her husband, Kirk. They grew up together, loved each other, and built a life together that gave them joy.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Kirk; her three daughters, Meredith Miles (Brian), Ashley Hopkins (Bryan), and Leigh Wilbourne; her grandchildren, Ellie, Claire, Margaret, and Beckett; and her brothers Ed Beverly (Barbara) and Steve Beverly (Kay) as well as a large extended family including many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws, all of whom she loved. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to thank Dr. Smithson for being her Primary Care Physician for 20 years and for managing her hospice care, Dr. Boles for his care and expertise throughout her battle with cancer, and all the staff at UNC/Rex Oncology who provided loving care during many treatments and procedures.
Throughout her illness, Lisa and her family were surrounded by immense love and care, receiving countless acts of support that deeply touched their hearts.
Lisa lived a life full of love, service, and courage. She was a force of nature whose impact will continue to be felt and whose memory we will strive to honor by following her example.
