Josh was born January 21, 1997, in Cortland Manor, NY where he lived with his family until moving to North Carolina at age 5. Josh had a vast array of ever-changing interests and an insatiable appetite for experiencing new things. He spent hours with friends across the state through video game tournaments, gaming, and Dungeons and Dragons. His relationships with friends and family are marked by the intensity and passion and depth of his love. Josh was known by all for his compassion and kindness, his dry wit and gentle soul. These qualities are what made Josh admirable and special but also left him vulnerable to some of the crueler parts of life. His absence from our lives will be felt forever.
Joshua is survived by his father Christopher Cook; his mother and stepfather, Kathryn and Ronald McGaugh; his paternal grandmother, Patricia Cook; his maternal grandparents Dr. Howard and Stephany Hull; his sister, Grace Cook; two brothers Stuart and Sam Cook; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services will be at 1pm on Sunday July 17th at the Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary, NC. The family will receive guests at 11am for a viewing and guests are asked to stay for a small reception after the funeral.
