Mr. Matthews was a rock of strength and dignity.   I’m so blessed to have known and cared for him for many years.  He talked lovingly about his beautiful wife, Dot and their daughter, Sandy often.  He shared his love of going to the coast and fishing.   I’ll miss our 8:00 am appointment times together.   Peace and love to the entire family as you celebrate a life well lived.     

Howard was my line foreman when I went to work for Southern Bell in 1972.  I went to your house to get directions to Charlotte. I was driving a truck to Charlotte for repairs. I was sitting in a chair underneath the curtain of the sliding glass doors. Your cat was above me on curtain rod, and suddenly jumped in my lap! Scared the daylights out of me! 
Howard was a good man to work for. He said what he meant and meant what he said. I enjoyed working for him.  May God be with you and Sandy at this time.

I will miss you a ton uncle Howard! My thoughts are with my aunt Dot and cousin Sandy. I know they miss him dearly. I wish we could've had one last family lunch at Outback but I will always remember the ones we did have and I'm grateful I was there. It won't be the same without you or your humor making everyone laugh. You were such a happy man no matter how you actually felt physically. Never complained. Just an absolute genuine person all around.
