He graduated from Southern High School, and went on to attend vocational schools for Electrical Engineering and Business Management. After school, Jerry opened his own TV repair shop. He went on to begin a 15+ year career with Northern Telecom (Nortel), where he and Deborah met. After his early retirement, he decided he was too young to leave the working world. He worked for Tekelec for about 7 years before joining his friend and business partner, Rick Van Hoy, in opening multiple businesses. Together, they opened ETR Solutions, which is an electrical engineering firm, and Resource ability that provides technical employees to businesses.
Jerry was a keen business man, but he also had many things he enjoyed in his off time. He was a huge fan and supporter of all Duke sports, especially basketball. He loved history and loved learning and researching genealogy. Jerry was also a huge movie buff and avid reader. He also loved Beach music, and enjoyed following all the local Beach Music performances. His family remembers him as an impeccable dresser who had a taste for finer quality clothing. Above all else, he loved spending time with not only his wife and children, but also his extended family.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Deborah Dry; son, Kevin A. Dry; daughter-in-law, Robbi Dry; grandchildren, Nicholas Dry and Jackson Dry; sister, Louise Roberts (Ken); brother, Dewey Dry; brother-in-law, Mike Bradsher (Melissa); and nieces /nephews Sarah Bradsher, Christopher Bradsher, Seth Roberts and other extended family.
