Harriette “Hattie” Taylor Daniel Jordan, 86, passed away on Wednesday morning, September 1, 2010 at Woodland Terrace in Cary, NC. She was born on December 14, 1923 in Littleton, NC, the daughter of the late John Graham Daniel and Harriette Taylor Daniel, who died when she was an infant. She was raised by her paternal aunt, Lucy Edwards Daniel Clark, “Mama Ned”, who passed away in 1984. She graduated from high school in Littleton and attended Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. After college she worked for the Coastline Railroad in Wilmington, NC. While in Wilmington she made many dear friends and met her future husband George Henry “Buck” Jordan, Jr., whom she married in June 1948 in Littleton. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cary, the DAR and the Magna Charta Dames.
Survivors include her daughter Harriette Jordan Gussenhoven and husband John of Naples, FL; son, George Henry Jordan, III and wife Melba of Cary, NC. She was a loving grandmother to Walter Jordan Gussenhoven and Henry Walker Jordan. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Elizabeth Rodwell Daniel and brother-in-law, Carlos Yates Jordan. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983, and by two brothers, John Graham Daniel, Jr., who died in infancy, and Erasmus Alston Daniel.
The family would like to thank everyone at Woodland Terrace for the kindness they have shown to Hattie while she was there.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 6, 2010 at 11 AM at Hillcrest Cemetery in Cary.
