Gloria Jean White Snider, 72, passed away on May 11, 2014, at WakeMed in Raleigh after an extended illness. She was born and spent her early life in Kanawha County, WV, the daughter of the late Vinyard and Delzia White. She married her husband of 47 years, Michael, in the mid-sixties and moved to the Raleigh area, where they have resided in Raleigh, Cary, and Angier. Gloria worked at several office positions through the years, finally retiring from the accounting department of Budget Rent-a-Car.
Gloria was always a ray of sunshine, with a ready smile and a sunny disposition for everyone she met along the way. She has been a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. The joy of her presence will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert White. She is survived by her husband; two adult children: Mark (Lynn) Snider of Cary and Jennifer (Juan) Martinez of Angier; three grandchildren: Tyler Martinez, Aaron Snider, and Emily Martinez; one sister: Karen (Thomas) Ballard of Nicholasville, KY, one brother: Alan of Shrewsbury, WV, and one sister-in-law: Sue White of Cedar Grove, WV. She is also survived by three nieces and a nephew, along with several grand nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, May 13, at the Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Cary. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 14, at 11:00 at the Greenwood Forest Baptist Church, Cary. Interment will follow at the Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.
