Gillian Audrey Wise

Gillian Audrey Wise, 78, of Cary, NC passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 surrounded by loved ones at her home after a long, courageous battle with brain cancer. Jill was born in Torquay, England on February 5, 1936 to the late Dick and Phyllis Collins. After graduating from nursing school, she worked in London where she met her husband, Peter. In 1969, Peter and Jill along with their three children moved to the US. They lived in many parts of the country until finally settling in Cary in 1986. Jill was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Love of family and friends meant everything to her, always putting them above all else. She also had a great love for dogs. She was an avid and accomplished artist, being a lifelong member of the Fine Arts League of Cary.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Peter J. Wise; son, Philip E. Wise of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; daughters, Denise P. Priddy of Davidsonville, MD, and Angela W. Cook of Reno, NV; brother, John Collins of Minehead, England; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 4:00pm Saturday, June 21, 2014 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1725 N. New Hope Road, Raleigh, NC 27604. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
