I have many treasured memories of working with Frances in GFBC's Women's Missions group, HOPE.  She was always so generous with her time, talents and resources and so supportive of every project that HOPE did.  Frances often offered her trusty Ford Aerostar minivan to haul supplies and people around the county and beyond.  She shared her many talents and skills with us.  Do you remember those little boxes she made out of Christmas cards?  She instructed the residents at Woodland Terrace how to make those little boxes at a HOPE event there.  Frances generously offered to host many of our HOPE meetings in her home.  A rather funny story after one of the meetings was when she announced she had flu shots to give to any of our members that wanted to receive their shot.  :-)  Prayers for your family and thanksgiving that we all knew and experienced the love, caring, wisdom, generous heart and compassion of Mama J. 

     The World Lost one of the most loving Wives, Mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers and FRIENDs this past week. FRANCES  JONES left us after making her mark on this world as one of the Best Duke Nurses, Tennis players, Gardeners, Cooks, Joke Tellers, faithful and loyal Friends and a True Child of God.
     To you Willie, Kathy, Deano,Tommy, Jenny,  and all your families, I send my deepest sympathies. I was so fortunate to know all of you and saw how each of you reflected the love, compassion and ideals that made  both your parents so proud. 
I met her 45 +years ago during a visit to Dr. Jones office, he insisted that his wife, Frances, would be glad to help me perfect my tennis serve. I was awe struck at not only meeting Frances but at having The #1 Cary Women's Tennis player help ME!! I had her on a pedestal, as I always have, and  I watched her play many a tennis match and never grew tired of hearing that laugh or seeing the twinkle in her eye as she handily beat her opponents.
She was my mentor and I always looked up to her. During her 50s she had the abs of a 20 year old and could play six sets of tennis and go home and cut the grass!
I have so many memories of time spent with Frances and especially our road trips. She would load up Big Green and off we'd go knowing there would be jokes along the way and homemade pimento cheese when we got there. I especially remember one trip to one of her her favorites, the "Rivah", where I looked up and Frances had her eyes closed while she was driving. That woman could nap anywhere! 
She was selfless and giving and quite often would show up with hot chocolate chip cookies to cheer you. During his last days, Steve gratefully was the recipient of many of those cookies. He,too, always loved her.
Beautiful both inside and out. There will never be another Frances and she will be remembered fondly by everyone who knew her.

Will always remember Bill and Frances as the #1 seed on the MDCC mixed doubles ladder!

I first met Francis on the tennis courts at MacGregor Downs Country Club, in Cary, NC 1996.  She was so welcoming, a great friend.
As time went on, I also had the chance to coach her grandson, Evan at Apex High School.  Her friendship will always be treasured in my heart.

My fondest memories from high schools were those spent at the Jones' home and inclusion in a few beach vacations. Mrs. Jones was so gracious to me and I will always be grateful. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I remember so many beautiful times at the Jones’ house during high school and Mama J ever present. Much love and many prayers for your family. 

A lifetime of wonderful memories.   Love to the Jones kids and all the Dixon cousins who will miss Aunt Frances.

Frances was such a joy to be around, and her Biblical insight and love of our Savior was so evident in her life, prayers, and joyful witness to others. My sincere condolences to her family. 

Some of my fondest memories of being with Frances were at our annual Women's Retreats. Many times this happened during the women's
ACC tournament and she and I would scout around to find a venue for watching the Duke women play. Then, working in "Frances' Kitchen" at church  - I was on her Wednesday night spaghetti crew. Such fond memories!  One could always count on having a fun time with Frances.  A great lady!
