Edward Earl Moore, Sr.

Edward Earl Moore, Sr., of Cary, North Carolina passed into eternal life on April 27, 2024. Ed was born in Chocowinity, North Carolina on September 6, 1935. He met his wife, Mae Hawley Moore at the Baptist Children’s Home of North Carolina’s Kennedy Home in Kinston, when they were both living there as children. They married on May 22, 1953.

Ed started an independent insurance agency, Ed Moore and Associates, Inc. in Cary in 1971. Still in operation, it has been a family business rooted in the community for over five decades. Ed and Mae were long standing members of the First United Methodist Church of Cary. Ed was an Ancient Free and Accepted Mason of North Carolina (Cary Lodge 198) and became a Master Mason in 1997.

Ed is survived by Mae and three generations of family members; four children: Edward Earl Moore, Jr. and his wife, Mary, Linda Moore Bowers and her husband James, Patricia Moore Shankle and her husband, Scott and Cynthia Lynne Moore; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren: Jenna Goldstein and her husband Dave and their two children, Jacob and Lila, Cristi Green and her husband Jeremy and their two children Emma and Hayes, Jimmy Bowers and his wife Kristen and their son Luke, Ryan Hillsgrove and his two children Atlas and Ari, Jessica Moore and her husband Evan, Robyn Moore and her son Amare, and Samantha Robinson and her husband Anson and their son, Wyatt.

Ed will be remembered and celebrated by his wife and their family in a private gathering. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Baptist Children’s Home of North Carolina’s Kennedy Home in Kinston in honor of Ed and Mae Moore would be most welcome and appreciated by the family.
