Doris was born August 14, 1927 in Whiteville (Columbus County), NC to the late Richard and Bessie Duncan. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Moore; her great grandson, Connor J. Smith; her brothers, Kenneth, Edgar, Horace, Homer, Herbert, David; and her sister, Dorothy. Left to cherish precious memories: daughter, Alice (Thomas) Moore; grandchildren, Corey (Janette) Hardison and Krista (Shawn) Smith; great granddaughters, Ella and Lily Hardison; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews.
Doris was the epitome of a beautiful, smart, kind, funny, Southern Christian lady and a true blessing to all who knew her. She was an inspiration and role model to many. As a female banking executive, she paved the way for future generations of working mothers. As a Christian, she taught by example; she loved mentoring youth at First United Methodist Church Cary and going on mission trips to Bosnia. During her work career at Wachovia Bank and Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, she made many wonderful friends. Whether you called her Mom, Gram, Doris, Bunny, Snow, Starka, or Snow Bunny, when you asked how she was doing, she would reply with her Doris-ism, “if I felt any better I’d have to be a twin.”
The family would like to thank the Brookdale MacArthur Park and SECU Jim & Betsy Bryan Hospice Home for the compassionate care Doris received while in their care.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM at Brown-Wynne Funeral, 200 Southeast Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511, followed by a celebration of life service at 11:30 AM. After the service, the family will be available to speak to guests.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.BrownWynneCary.com for the Moore family.
