Don Crawley, a resident of Cary, NC, passed away from complications of multiple sclerosis on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the age of 60. He was born in Greenville, SC on July 6, 1951, the son of Ernest and Lois Crawley. He grew up in Norfolk, VA, graduating from Norview High School and attended Old Dominion College. He was a licensed electrician and had a career as a biomedical CT engineering technician for 24 more years. He loved woodworking, sailing, ice skating, and surfing, and avidly followed space exploration with the National Space Society of the Triangle. He was a member of the Cary MS Self Help Group of the National MS Society.
He is survived by his wife of 3 years, Shuang “Song” Zhong of Cary, NC; his son, Ryan Peter Crawley of Apex, NC; his mother, Lois Crawley of Norfolk, VA; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Leo Palensky of Davidsonville, MD and Joyce and Fred McCune of Beaufort, NC; and nieces, Taylor, Claire and Stephanie McCune of Beaufort, NC.
A memorial service will be held 3:30 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 100 Lochmere Drive West, Cary, NC 27518. Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery Columbarium in Norfolk, VA.
