Mr. Moore, 87, of Cary, NC, died Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Hillcrest Raleigh at Crabtree Valley after a brief illness. He was born in Beech Creek, PA, on October 27, 1935, son of the late Henry Frank and Eva Isabelle (Raemsch) Moore.
Mr. Moore graduated from Lock Haven High School and then honorably served his country in Japan as a member of the US Air Force during the Korean War. Upon his return home, he worked at Piper Aircraft in Lock Haven, PA, while also attending Williamsport Technical Institute. He retired from IBM at RTP, NC, after 31 years of service. He then taught part-time at Wake Technical Community College.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his brothers Clair, Earl, Malcolm, Wilber, and Muriel; sisters Virginia and Regis; as well as an infant sister Regis.
Survivors include his wife Margaret Moore of Cary; son Jeff and wife Gretchen of Cary; daughter Velerie and husband David Howell of Winston-Salem, NC; sister Sarah Englert and husband Harold of Blanchard, PA; and granddaughter Lauren of Seattle, WA.
Mr. and Mrs. Moore were high school sweethearts and celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this past August. Mr. Moore was a loving and devoted husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. He was an accomplished carpenter, electrician, mason, and all-around handyman. He was an avid reader; loved collecting model trains and anything associated with John Wayne, Elmer Fudd, or World War II; and was a member of American Legion Post #0067.
Arrangements are in the care of Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Cary, NC; inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SAFE Haven for Cats in Raleigh, NC, Stray Rescue of St. Louis, MO, or the American Legion.
