Bruce Washburn, 83 passed and went to be with the lord on Wednesday March 24, 2021 in Cary North Carolina with his son Brian, daughter-in-law Susan and beloved dog Bailey by his side. Bruce was a native Vermonter and was born in Hanover New Hampshire on February 9, 1938. Bruce was a financial executive in the travel and tourism business which provided a fruitful career in Boston until he retired at 50 years old (Go Bruce!). After retirement Bruce continued to enjoy travelling, started a Christmas tree farm and authentic Vermont Maple Syrup business called “Green Acres” in South Royalton, Vermont. Bruce and his wife “MH” also enjoyed escaping the cold winters in Saint Simons Island Georgia where they owned a second home. Bruce was known as a follower of Jesus Christ, a big fan of the New England Patriots and a great outdoorsman.
Bruce is predeceased by his loving wife Martha “MH” Washburn, his parents Fredrick & Grace Washburn and his son Mark Fredrick Washburn. He is survived by his son Brian and wife Susan along with his grand children Parker and Grace Washburn of Cary North Carolina, his daughter Lisa Washburn from Massachusetts and her 3 children.
Private services will be held for the family in Vermont this summer. Contributions in his memory can be made to The Bruce George Washburn Foundation (c/o Brian Washburn) 814 Crabtree Crossing Parkway, Cary NC 27513 where proceeds will be used to help communities and fund Christian mission trips in the honor and legacy of Bruce.
