William Earl Cooper, 91 of Cartersville Ga., passed away Sunday morning, November 3, 2019 at The Fountains in Cartersville assisted living facility. He was born April 3, 1928 in Meeks, GA. Mr. Cooper was the son of James Mason and Alice Belle Cooper Henry of Twin City, GA.
He was a resident of Cartersville for 21 years, and a resident of Smyrna, GA for 28 years. He was raised in Twin City, GA. where he worked the family farm that produced cotton, peanuts, and tobacco. He joined the U.S. Air Force at a young age and set off on a military career that lasted 20 years obtaining rank of Senior Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Air force, he settled with his wife and children in Smyrna . During that time, he pursued a second career in Civil service. He retired from The Centers for Disease Control power plant operations division in Atlanta, GA. His final years were spent in Cartersville where he nurtured his yard and vegetable garden, sharing its bounty and growing tips with everyone. He was an exemplary husband, father, and friend. His wit, humor and happy nature were often admired and never forgotten by anyone having met him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mason and Alice Henry; wife, Philomena (Mona) Louis Cooper; brother, James Henry ; sisters, Juanita Edwards, and Sarah Grimes.
He is survived by his children; Phyllis Ann Pelletier (David) of Bessemer Alabama, David Earl Cooper(Jaleta) of Dallas Georgia, Edwin Louis Cooper (Mildred) of Acworth, Georgia, and Susan Cooper Koogle (Scott) of Ashburn Virginia. Five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren; sisters, Dot Byrd of Fairhope, Ala., and Edith McLucas of Leesburg , Fla.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Monday, November 18, 2019 at ten thirty in the morning at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA, with military honors rendered.
The family will hold a reception following the interment service at the family home of Edwin Cooper.
