Thomas Joseph Russell Sr.

Mr. Thomas Joseph Russell Senior, 82, of Cartersville, GA passed away peacefully Thursday, March 14, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Russell was the son of the late Mr. Francis William Russell and Mrs. Mary Gallivan Russell and born in St. Paul, Minnesota on August 23, 1936.

Tom was a graduate of St. Boniface High School in Cold Spring, Minnesota. His high school friends remained close throughout his life. Tom served in the United States Army as an M.P. in Korea. He later married his beloved wife of 55 years, Mrs. Elizabeth (Betsy) Wigglesworth Russell. He has an extensive career in sales, working mostly for SEARS for over 20 years. After retirement, he and his wife traveled several times to Ireland and extensively in the United States. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church in Cartersville, serving as mass captain and numerous committees. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Tim Russell and sister, Molly Van Hove.

He is survived by his daughters; Maggie (Randy) Duncan, Mitzie (Andy) Sanders and Ginny (Mitch) Dutto and son, Tom (Wendy) Russell Jr., grandchildren; Joe Matthews, Katie Burgess, Josh Duncan, Michael Sipes, Beth and Chris Dutto and Samantha Sanders, Three great grandchildren, and sister, Eileen McKinnon. Several nieces and nephews also survive to cherish his memory.

A Funeral Mass will be conducted Saturday, March 23, 2019 at one o'clock in the afternoon at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

The family will receive friends from twelve o'clock noon until the service hour on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for memorial donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
