Susan was born in Cartersville, Georgia, on July 2, 1948.
She was the daughter of the late Mildred and Charles Spradley of Cartersville, Georgia. She was one of five children. She is preceded in death by two of her brothers Jim Spradley and Barry Spradley (Brenda).
She is survived by her sister, Vivian Alexander, her brother, Steve Spradley (Debi), daughter Allison Stephens Nelson, her sons Michael Stephens (Lisa), Matthew Stephens (Heather), Shannan Mahnken (William), Robin Seabolt (Keith), Charie Martin (Roy), and her husband Ronald Mehl, and her ten grandchildren (Davis, Elizabeth, William, Trey, Bella, Hallie, Easton, Tanner, Ryan and Alex).
Her career spanned 31 years. She spent her years working in the Technical College system at former Coosa Valley Tech (Rome) and North Metro Tech (Acworth) in various positions. Most recently she volunteered on the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation Board as a trustee. She was voted Volunteer of the Year for the State of Georgia Technical College Foundations in 2019.
After retiring, she started her own business, Susan Stephens Designs, specializing in window treatments, staging, and floral design.
She was very involved in the community. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi International. She was a member for 50 years. She was part of the Chi Masters chapter. She was also a member of the Magnolia Garden Club and was the Laurel District Director.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 1st of February, 2023 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the evening until seven on Tuesday, the 31st of January, 2023 at Owen Funeral Home.
