Rayburn Arthur Parker

Rayburn Arthur Parker, 94, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Heritage Hospice in Marietta, Georgia. Rayburn was born January 15, 1929 in Lawrence County, Alabama to the late Arthur Jackson Parker and Eula Clementine Stockton Parker.

Mr. Parker was retired from a career at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, including stints in Decatur, Alabama; Scottsboro, Alabama; and Cartersville, Georgia. He was a founding member of Heritage Baptist Church, where he was an ordained deacon. He was an avid gardener noted for his tomatoes and irises. He was also fond of photography, travel, fishing, bowling, and astronomy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Helen Beatrice Gandy, and his wife of 71 years, Wennell Ridgeway Parker.

Rayburn is survived by his son, Ronald Parker, of Decatur, Georgia; daughter Karen Parker (Darrell Webb) of Lawrenceville, Georgia; son Arthur Parker (Keri Chang) of Portland, Oregon; and his granddaughter Claire Summers (Charlie Summers) of Milford, Massachusetts.

Funeral Services for Mr. Parker will be conducted Friday, October 20, 2023 at two o'clock in the afternoon at Heritage Baptist Church, 1070 Douthit Ferry Road Cartersville GA 30120, with the Rev. Michael Tutterow officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Sunset Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour at Heritage Baptist Church Friday, October 20, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heritage Baptist Church.
