Matthew Brian Smith

Matthew was born on December 31, 1981 in Austell, GA, son of Terry Smith and Virginia Rash Smith.

Matthew had such a great love for his family, especially his son Noah. Out of all his accomplishment in his life, Noah was his greatest. He and Noah shared a bond like no other. He was the best dad to Noah and, if you know Noah, you know Matthew did a great job raising him. They shared a love of the water, fishing and riding their jet skis.

Everyone that came to know Matthew knew he had a serving heart and love for others. Matthew’s heart was so big, in fact, he had room for another child who needed a father figure.

Matthews dream was always to become a firefighter. Through hard work and perseverance that dream became a reality for him.

Matthew is survived by his parents; son, Noah Smith; brothers, Terry (Nicole) Harper and Travis Smith. Sister, Ginger (Michael) Whitley; God son, John Webb and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; treasured miniature yorkies, Zoey and Misty.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 26th of March, 2023 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Ronnie Cowart and Billy Ward officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Georgia Memorial Park.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from ten o’clock in the morning until the service hour at Owen Funeral Home.
