Mrs. Mary Evelyn Alford, 84, of Cartersville, Ga., passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Evelyn was born on June 7, 1935, in Pelahatchie, Mississippi to the late Mr. Alton Blackburn and Mrs. Opal Lindsey Blackburn.
Evelyn was a devoted mother and loving wife. Evelyn loved to be in her garden, tending to her beautiful flowers. Evelyn also served as an executive assistant at Bob Westbrook Entertainment Agency where she worked with such entertainers as Justin Timberlake and Brittany Spears in their early years. Evelyn also supported her daughter, Rayan's singing career for many years. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Frank Blackburn and sister, Betty Bishop.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Mr. Billy Ray Alford; daughter, Rayan Culberson; granddaughter, Gabrielle Culberson; sister, Wilma Harper; and sister-in-law, Delores (Abner) Usry. Many nieces and nephews also survive to cherish Evelyn's memory.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home on Saturday, February 8, 2020, at one o'clock in the afternoon with the Rev. Jerry Griffin officiating. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memory Gardens, Cartersville.
The family will receive friends at Owen Funeral Home on Saturday, February 8, 2020, from eleven o'clock in the morning until the service hour.
