Madison Leete “Pete” Rogers, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on March 5, 2022 in The Woodlands, Texas at age 90. He was born on January 28, 1932 in Flushing, New York, the son of Lewis Edward Rogers and Marion Nelson Rogers, both formerly of Cartersville. He was a graduate of Cartersville High School and attended the Virginia Military Institute. He joined the U.S. Army and served in Japan. He married the love of his life, Sara “Sally” Ellis, in 1959, and they had one son, Lewis. Pete had a career in sales for many years across Georgia, Florida, Texas, and the Carolinas. After retiring from sales, Pete moved back to Cartersville where he Joined the Weinman Mineral Museum, now the Tellus Science Museum, working as an educator for many years. He was known as “Mr. Pete”, and teaching children about fossils and minerals was the job he truly loved. Pete Rogers is survived by his wife Sara “Sally” Ellis Rogers of Cartersville (living in Spring, TX); son Lewis Charles Rogers and wife Lusiya of Shanghai, China; former and much-loved daughter-in-law Andrea Kathleen Rogers of The Woodlands, TX; grandchildren Brandon Lewis Rogers, David Aleksander “Alek” Rogers, and Sara Kathleen “Sara Kate” Rogers of the Woodlands, TX; step-grandson Jack Qian of College Station, TX; nephew Edward Morris Rogers and wife Jeanette of Roswell, GA; and nephew James Madison Rogers of Marietta, GA. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 11am at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Cartersville, GA with Rev. Louis Tonsmeire conducting the service. Family visitation will be at 10am the same day at the church. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cartersville.
