While surrounded by his children and his sisters, JAMES EARL JORDAN, JR. was welcomed home into the loving arms of his Lord and Saviour on Sunday, October 27, 2019. He was born in Cartersville, Georgia, on February 11, 1958, to Sarah Lou Cheatham Jordan and James Earl Jordan, Sr. Beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Charlotte Allene Jordan Walker.
Jim was a 1976 graduate of Cass High School and a graduate of Reinhardt College. He attended the University of Georgia and later came back home to establish J. Jordan Greenhouses where he was able to foster his love of beautiful plants by becoming a wholesale and retail grower for the metro Atlanta area. Jim raised annual bedding and flowering plants, most notably the numerous varieties of lovely poinsettias for which he was well-known. A life-long learner Jim loved the outdoors. His interests were all things that showcased the beauty of God’s creation, specifically horticulture and geology.
A long-time member of Tabernacle Baptist Church Jim accepted Christ at a young age and always had his Bible close at hand.
Surviving are his children James Earl Jordan, III (Trey and Ivy), Melissa McMillan (Michael), and Megan Johnson (Charlie); grandchildren Christian Johnson, Maxwell Johnson, Levi McMillan, Hannah Grace McMillan, Collier Jordan, Elin Jordan, Barron Jordan, and Hallie Jordan; sisters Hellen Jordan Brown (Dennis) and Betty (Betsy) Jordan Griffin (Danny); and the mothers of his children Becky Jordan and Melisa Polzin. Many treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts also survive.
Serving as pallbearers are: Trey Jordan, Michael McMillan, Charlie Johnson, Jordan Griffin, Jay Alexander, and James Nichols. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis Brown and Danny Griffin
Visitation is Friday, November 1, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church of Cartersville with the Celebration of Life Service immediately following at noon in the church sanctuary with Michael McMillan officiating.Interment will be at Emerson Cemetery immediately following the service.
