Griffin Howard Tidwell

Griffin Howard Tidwell, age 90, of Cartersville, GA passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021. He was born in Cartersville, GA on July 31, 1931 to the late Buford Azar Tidwell and Pauline Branton Tidwell.

Griffin served his country in the United States Army and was a lifetime member of the Cartersville American Legion Post 42.

Griffin is preceded in death by his wife, Sue Tidwell; sisters, Dorothy (Herbert) Townsend and Johnette Tidwell.; brother-in-law Buck Fowler. He is survived by his daughter, Karon Toole of Powder Springs, GA; son, Terrell Tidwell of Powder Springs, GA; grandchildren, Amber (Mike) Gilligan of Madison, WI, Tinsley (James) Lester of Dallas, GA, Weston Humphrey of Powder Springs, GA, and Mallory Tidwell of Kennesaw, GA; brothers, Clarence Tidwell, and Earl (Jean) Tidwell; sister, Margaret Fowler; a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 in the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Battles officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cartersville, GA with James Lester, Curtis Townsend, Joey Cooper, Brett Sutton and Landon Sutton serving as pallbearers and Andy Ball, Tony Murphy and Jay Harreld serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 23, 2021 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Owen Funeral Home.
