Gail George, born December 16, 1950 to Robert Boren and Shirley Miller, passed away on Monday, May 08, 2023 surrounded by her family. Gail was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Upon marriage, Gail became the president of the NCO wives club while stationed on multiple air force bases including South Carolina, Texas, Germany and Okinawa, Japan. Gail enjoyed leading many arts and crafts classes including ceramics and cake decorating.
Gail loved to serve others whether as a volunteer for the Red Cross or at Peeples Valley Baptist Church as the president of WMU or coordinating vacation Bible School. She spent most of her time in her garden or crafting, Gail was an avid cross-stitcher as well as crocheter. Gail loved to travel.
More than anything Gail loved her Savior, Jesus and her family well. She would always put God and others before herself. Gail would tell anyone who would listen about her love for Jesus. She made sure her children and grandchildren were at church and cultivated their love for Jesus.
Gail never met a stranger. She made friends wherever she went. A few of her lifelong friends she met while stationed at the bases around the World. To this day she treasured and remained friends.
Gail is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Boren and Shirley (Richard) Miller; two husbands, Roy Frye and Alan George. She is survived by her daughters, Tracy (Ty Owensby) Boggs and Deloris (William) Watkins; granddaughters, Nikki (Lance) Liley, Jessica (Casey) Taylor and Samantha Schunior; great-grandchildren, Liam, Emery and Adalda Liley, Jamie and Elijah Schunior; sister Lynda (Bill) Wallace; several nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews as well as step-children.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 12, 2023 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Bailey and Rev. Mike Stork officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Friday, May 12, 2023 from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm. The interment will be at Georgia National Cemetery on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 11:00 am. Lance Liley, Casey Taylor, Ty Owensby, Bill Wallace, Toby Wallace and Doug Morris will serve as pallbearers and William Watkins, Liam Liley, Jamie Schunior and Elijah Schunior will serve as honorary pallbearers.
