Darren Leigh Parker

Darren was born on July 14, 1970 in Roanoke Virginia, son of Devra (Beram) Foon.

Darren graduated from William Fleming High School in 1988, where he played football and was a member of the wrestling team. Darren joined the Army in 1988, serving during Operation Desert Storm. He was a firefighter for Roanoke (Virginia) Fire & EMS for 20 years. In 2014, Deputy Parker started his Law Enforcement career at the Bartow County Sheriff's Office, where he was an exceptional asset to the department and community. He was studying for his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Southern New Hampshire University.

Darren was a diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He loved the song "Paradise" by Coldplay. He was kind, compassionate, polite and genuinely an all-around great person. He always made his family and friends laugh and made everyone's day better. He loved his family and was very proud of all of their accomplishments. He enjoyed cruising with his family and most importantly watching them have a good time.

He is survived by his mother, Devra (Beram) Foon; loving wife of seventeen years, Tracie Jones Parker; children, Ryann, Alani, Bryan, Darien, Kenneth and Sydney; and three grandchildren, Kaiden, Kalani and Kinnidi; grandmother, Charlene Hughes; several aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends also survive.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted from four o'clock in the afternoon until five on Sunday, the 27th of February, 2022 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home. The Bartow County Sheriff's Department Honor Guard Ceremony will begin at five.

Another Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Valley Word Church in Roanoke, VA. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be in Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin, VA.
