Maureen Elizabeth Seljestad was born on January 17, 1975 in Omak, Washington and passed away on April 14, 2024 in Carson City, NV. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Lewis and Doris Jones, who she grew up with. Maureen is survived by her husband, Benjamin Seljestad, her two children Murphy and Sullivan Seljestad, her parents Richard and Bonnie Rawson, and her siblings Mark and Matthew Rawson.
Maureen loved helping people, she was a mother to everyone around her. She and Ben would joke that she had three boys, himself being one of them. She was the most genuinely kind and compassionate person he had ever met. When they started dating in 1996 at college, she told him 'It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.' She practiced being nice to everyone and before school each day would remind their kids to do so.
She had a degree from Eastern Washington University in recreational therapy. She worked for hers and Ben's Optometry practice as a bookkeeper since 2003. She was honest, loyal, and a true empath; she felt what her loved ones felt. She was a good listener. She would protect and defend her family over herself. She became a great cook throughout her marriage to Ben and he came to depend on her for home cooked meals.
Maureen never wanted to be in the spotlight, she didn't like attention drawn to her and would get embarrassed with compliments and she didn't see how beautiful she was.
She kept secrets and because she felt so much for everyone else, she was an introverted person, but you if you were lucky enough to become her friend, she was the best friend anyone could ask for.
