Frances Anne Durry Jackson, our loving mother passed away peacefully in her sleep at 82 years old on February 7, 2022 after courageously fighting a battle from complications due to Osteoporosis and Arthritis. A private service will be held on Monday, February 14, 2022 at FritzHenry’s Funeral Home, in Carson City, Nevada at 1:00 with Fr. Tom Nelson officiating her blessing. She will be laid to rest next to her late husband, retired United States Marine Corps, MGySgt. John (Jack) Frederick Jackson at the Presidio’s San Francisco National Cemetery in San Francisco, California at another time.
Frances was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Charles Arthur and Florence Cecilia Bradley Durry on February 20, 1939. She attended St. Rita’s Catholic High School (Dundalk) and graduated in 1956. In 1965 she married John Frederick Jackson USMC then becoming a military wife during the Vietnam era. While her husband was deployed on two different occasions Frances wrote to him every day. In 1970, she learned of her husband’s new orders to Ft. Huachuca, AZ. She too worked there at the base at several positions in the Federal Civil Service until her 20 years were up and she retired. Ft. Huachuca was their last duty station followed by retirement from the Marine Corps in 1975. In 2013 Frances moved to Carson City to be closer to her children.
Frances was a very loving and sensitive woman who never stopped loving. She showed her love in many ways and teachings as well as being unconditionally forgiving. As a long- time member of AA she met many friends who gained great insight into solving life’s problems with her help. She always wanted to be a helper. Lavender scent, the color lavender, hearts, Victorian art, antiques, thrift stores, a diet coke, white chocolate raspberry swirl ice cream, old Hollywood movies and the United States Marine Corps were a few of her favorite things. But without a doubt, her children meant the world to her. Her attention to details provided the family with stories of days gone by that will live on in generations to come in the family. Frances adopted a stray cat name Freya only five years ago, they were each other’s best friend.
Frances is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Florence, her husband John (Jack). She is survived by her children; Theresa Anne Christensen (Comeau), Michael Joseph Comeau Sr. Mary Elizabeth Pulsipher (Jackson) and son-in -law, Gary Pulsipher.
